Cafe de l'Ambre

One of Tokyo's most legendary kissaten, open since 1948 and still run with extraordinary dedication to aged and single-origin coffees. The founder Ichiro Sekiguchi, who passed away in 2018, left behind a cafe that remains a living museum of Japanese coffee culture. Order the iced coffee — brewed hot then chilled over ice — and sit in the dark, wood-paneled interior for a truly timeless experience. It can feel intimidating to newcomers but the staff are welcoming.
