A 10-minute gondola near Squamish that lifts you to an 885-metre summit with a suspension bridge, viewing platform, and alpine trails overlooking Howe Sound, an easy taste of the alpine without the climb, roughly an hour's drive north of the city on the scenic Highway 99. Once up top there are easy interpretive boardwalks and more serious alpine hiking trails. It's a splurge and entirely weather-dependent, so check the forecast and webcam before you commit, because a low cloud ceiling erases the whole point of going.
