Known forcontemporaryregional artcritically acclaimedheritage building
SAM focuses exclusively on contemporary art from Southeast Asia and is one of the region's most respected institutions for serious contemporary work. Housed in a restored 19th-century Catholic school, it hosts ambitious exhibitions that challenge and provoke rather than simply decorate. Note that SAM operates on a rotating exhibition model so check the schedule before visiting as the building can feel sparse between major shows.
