The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian is Rio's dramatic modernist cathedral in Centro, a 75-metre conical concrete pyramid whose bare exterior gives way to four towering stained-glass panels that flood the vast interior with colored light. Inspired by Mayan pyramids, it holds up to 20,000 people and includes a small sacred-art museum downstairs.
