Can you still climb the pyramids at Teotihuacán?

Mostly no. The summit of the Pyramid of the Sun is closed to protect the structure, and access elsewhere is limited — the Pyramid of the Moon has allowed only its first platform, with numbers controlled. Rules shift, so check the signs at the ticket booth the day you go and don't plan your trip around climbing.

Is the hot air balloon ride over Teotihuacán worth it?

If it's in your budget, it's genuinely spectacular — dawn flights float you over both pyramids before the site opens. Book a reputable operator in advance and know it adds a very early start. You can then do the site on foot afterward, tired but smug.

How long do I need at the site?

Four to five hours covers the Avenue of the Dead, both pyramid plazas, the Ciudadela with the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, and the excellent murals at Tepantitla. The site is huge — several kilometers end to end — so wear real shoes.

Should I eat at the restaurants near the ruins?

La Gruta, the famous restaurant inside an actual cave near Gate 5, is touristy but a genuinely memorable setting for a post-ruins lunch. Otherwise the roadside spots outside the gates serve decent barbacoa. Prices near the site run tourist-high; nothing wrong with packing a lunch.
