Directions

One of the most historically significant market sites in the Americas, this is where the great Aztec tianguis once operated and where Cortés marveled at its scale. The modern market retains a deeply local character with excellent produce, meats, and cheap comida corrida that feeds the surrounding working-class neighborhood. Few tourists make it here, which is precisely the point — pair it with a visit to the Plaza de las Tres Culturas next door.
