Known forfortressheritagepanoramiccolonial
A 17th-century hilltop fortress built by the Jesuits that once repelled a Dutch invasion, now offering some of the best panoramic views of the Macau Peninsula and the ruins of St. Paul's directly below. The Macau Museum is embedded within the fort walls and provides an excellent, well-curated overview of the territory's history and culture. Locals consider it a far more rewarding stop than the ruins alone. Caveat: the museum charges a small admission fee separately.
