The Arco da Rua Augusta is a triumphal arch marking the entrance from Praça do Comércio into the pedestrian shopping street Rua Augusta, completed in 1873 and topped with allegorical statues. A lift plus a short staircase leads to a rooftop terrace with close-up views over the square, the river and the Baixa grid. The arch is free to admire from below; only the rooftop climb has a small charge.
