The Sé de Lisboa is the city's oldest church, begun in 1147 after Lisbon was taken from the Moors, a fortress-like Romanesque cathedral with a rose window and twin bell towers on the edge of Alfama. Inside you can visit the Gothic cloister and treasury and see Roman and Moorish remains being excavated. Entry to the nave is free; the cloister and treasury charge a small fee, and the famous yellow Tram 28 rattles right past the door.
