One of North America's largest Chinatowns, centred on Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street West with dense storefronts of Cantonese and Vietnamese restaurants, herbal shops, bakeries and produce spilling onto the sidewalk. Come hungry and browse the markets; it flows right into Kensington Market next door. It is gritty and busy rather than polished, which is much of the appeal.

Roncesvalles ('Roncy') is a relaxed, family-friendly west-end strip next to High Park with deep Polish roots, great bakeries, delis, cafes, and pierogi. The Annex is the leafy, bookish neighbourhood around Bloor and Bathurst, next to U of T. Note: MOCA moved to Sterling Road years ago, so don't come here expecting it.

Leslieville is the east side's brunch-and-stroller neighbourhood: Queen East lined with cafes, indie shops, and family-friendly-but-hip restaurants. A friend sends you here for a relaxed weekend morning, not big attractions. Heads up: the 501 streetcar gets snarled by Ontario Line construction, so build in extra time.

Yorkville is Toronto's luxury district: the Mink Mile designer strip on Bloor (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Holt Renfrew), high-end restaurants, and the ROM and Gardiner museums next door.
