A protected aquatic reserve just a 15-minute walk from Manly Beach, Shelly Beach is a calm, north-facing cove where snorkelling is exceptional — wobbegong sharks, blue gropers, octopus and schools of fish are routine sightings in crystal-clear water. The beach itself is small and sheltered, making it ideal for families and non-surfers, and the kiosk café at the back of the beach is a lovely spot for a post-swim coffee. It gets crowded on summer weekends so arrive before 10am or visit on a weekday.
