Reopened after a major renovation in 2021, this is the world's most comprehensive museum dedicated to Peranakan (Straits Chinese) culture, covering everything from beaded shoes and porcelain to wedding rituals and cuisine. The building itself — a former school — is beautiful, and the curation is scholarly without being dry. It fills a genuine gap that no other Singapore attraction covers. Allow at least two hours; the upper floors on textiles and jewellery are not to be rushed.
