An active military fort built in 1914 at the southern tip of Copacabana, now housing a military history museum with original cannons, period uniforms, and exhibits on Brazil's WWI and WWII involvement. The panoramic views of Copacabana beach from the ramparts are among the best in the city and far less crowded than Sugarloaf. The Confeitaria Colombo café branch inside the fort is a lovely spot for coffee with a view. Bring ID as it is still a functioning military installation.
