Opened in 1934 by a German immigrant, Bar Lagoa sits on the edge of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas with a gorgeous art deco interior and a menu that blends German and Brazilian influences. The chopp is excellent and the setting — especially at dusk with the lagoon glittering outside — is hard to beat. Service can be slow but the atmosphere more than compensates.
