Frequently asked questions

What are the opening hours and closing days?
The park is open 9:30–17:00 (last entry 16:30). It is closed every Wednesday; if Wednesday falls on a public holiday, the following weekday is the closing day instead. The park opens daily from 1 April through early May (Golden Week) and throughout October and November.
How much does admission cost?
As of 1 April 2026, the combined ticket for the Natural and Cultural Gardens and the Japanese Garden costs ¥450 for adults (high school age and above); children (junior high school age and below) enter free. Several attractions inside — including the Tower of the Sun interior and the Expo '70 Pavilion — charge separate fees.
What are the main things to see and do in the park?
Highlights include the 65-metre Tower of the Sun (interior tours available), the Japanese Garden, the Natural and Cultural Gardens with thousands of cherry trees, the Expo '70 Pavilion museum, the National Museum of Ethnology, and the Banpaku BEAST climbing structure. The park also has BBQ areas, a forest sightseeing train, and the Sorado aerial promenade.
How do I get there from central Osaka?
Take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line from Umeda or Namba to Senri-Chuo Station, then transfer to the Osaka Monorail for two stops to Banpaku-kinen-koen Station — about 40–50 minutes total. The park's Central Gate is roughly a 5-minute walk from the station exit. Note: the Osaka Monorail is not covered by the JR Pass.
Do I need to book the Tower of the Sun in advance?
Yes. Advance reservations are strongly recommended and given priority for entry into the Tower of the Sun Museum. Same-day tickets are only sold if slots remain available. The interior tour fee is ¥720 for adults and ¥310 for elementary/junior high school students, on top of the park admission fee.
Is this the same place as the 2025 Osaka Expo?
No. Expo '70 Commemorative Park is the site of the 1970 World's Fair in Suita. The 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo was held at Yumeshima in Osaka City, about an hour away by train. Search results for 'Osaka Expo' frequently mix the two, so confirm your destination before travelling.
Are there any closures or special events to be aware of in 2026?
The park will be closed to general visitors on 31 October and 1 November 2026 for the KAMIGATA EXPO PARK FES 2026 festival, which requires a separate festival ticket. Standard park passes and advance tickets are not valid on those dates, and the Tower of the Sun interior will not be open to the public.
When is the best time to visit for flowers?
Spring (late March to early May) is peak season for cherry blossoms, tulips, nemophila, and Iceland poppies. A plum blossom festival runs in February. Autumn (October–November) brings colourful foliage. The park opens daily during both spring and autumn peak seasons.
