MUAC is Mexico City's premier contemporary art museum, housed in a striking concrete-and-glass building designed by Teodoro González de León on the UNESCO-listed UNAM campus. The rotating exhibitions are genuinely ambitious — international in scope but with a strong Latin American curatorial voice — and the permanent collection includes major works by Francis Alÿs, Gabriel Orozco, and Teresa Margolles. The museum café and bookstore are both excellent. Getting there requires a bit of planning — take the Metrobús to CU or drive — but the campus itself is worth the trip.
