Known fortempleChinese heritageauthentichistoric
One of the oldest temples in Macau, dating to at least 1488, this atmospheric complex dedicated to the sea goddess Mazu clings to the rocky hillside at the southern tip of the peninsula. Wander through its series of pavilions filled with incense smoke, red lanterns, and fishing-boat carvings. It remains an active place of worship, giving it an authenticity that many heritage sites lack. Caveat: the steep internal paths can be slippery when wet.
