How do I get there without a car?

The nearest metro is Onpassive (M1 line, formerly Al Safa), then a 5-minute taxi or the RTA 110 bus from Al Safa terminus, which runs about every 12 minutes. It's a 30-minute walk from the station, doable but hot in summer.

Is Alserkal Avenue free to enter?

Yes, entry to the Avenue and most galleries is completely free, and parking inside the complex is free too. You only pay at the cinema (Cinema Akil), ticketed events, workshops, or when you eat and shop.

Is it worth visiting if I'm not into art?

Yes. Beyond galleries there's excellent specialty coffee, an arthouse cinema, design and concept shops, and good restaurants. It's a relaxed, uncrowded place to spend an afternoon and see the side of Dubai that isn't malls and skyscrapers.
