The only Latino museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, and it's completely free — making it one of the best cultural deals in the entire city. The permanent collection spans 3,000 years of Mexican and Mexican-American art and culture, and the Day of the Dead exhibition each fall is legendary. Pilsen itself is a vibrant, mural-covered neighborhood worth exploring before or after. Parking is easier than downtown but the neighborhood is best reached via the Pink Line.
