Unlike the flat, crowded ruins of Tulum, Cobá sits deep in the jungle and — crucially — still allows visitors to climb the 42-meter Nohoch Mul pyramid for a panoramic view above the forest canopy, one of the last climbable pyramids in Mexico. The site is spread across several kilometers connected by jungle paths, and renting a bike or hiring a bike taxi is essential. Caveat: the climb is steep and not suitable for those with vertigo or mobility issues, and the jungle heat and humidity are intense — start early.
