INAH renovated and reopened it in January 2025 with new facilities. Cheap, nearly empty, 15 minutes from downtown. Perfect paired with the Isla Mujeres ferry next door.

    One of the New Seven Wonders — the great Maya city with the Kukulcán pyramid, ball court, and cenote, about 2.5-3 hours from Cancún. Absolutely worth the trek once; nothing else in the region matches its scale. Brace for it: roughly 697 MXN entry for foreigners (two separate fees), serious heat, vendor gauntlets, and heavy crowds from 10:30 AM.
