The Broken Spoke is Austin's most iconic honky-tonk, open since 1964 and still run by the James White family — a genuine Texas dance hall with live country music, two-stepping, and cold Lone Star. Order the chicken-fried steak in the restaurant side before hitting the dance floor. It's touristy by reputation but the regulars and the atmosphere are completely authentic.
