Caffe Medici has been a cornerstone of Austin's specialty coffee scene since 2006, predating the third-wave boom and helping define what serious coffee culture looks like in the city. The West Campus location near UT is a student and academic staple; the Downtown location draws a professional crowd. Their espresso is consistently excellent and the baristas are knowledgeable without being pretentious. The spaces can get packed during the UT semester.
