The grassy riverfront park along Lady Bird Lake just south of downtown is one of Austin's great public gathering places, famous for its off-leash dog area, stunning skyline views, and the nightly Congress Avenue Bridge bat flight visible from its banks. The park connects to the hike-and-bike trail and hosts major outdoor concerts. It can get crowded on warm evenings and during events, but the views and energy are unmatched. The bat emergence at dusk from March through October is a must-see.
