The Smithsonian's National Zoo is a legitimate world-class facility spread across 163 hilly acres in Rock Creek Park, home to giant pandas, Asian elephants, and hundreds of other species. The Asia Trail and American Trail are the strongest sections. It's genuinely free to enter though parking costs money — take the Metro to Woodley Park instead. The terrain is hilly and the full loop is several miles, so wear comfortable shoes.
