Directions

Yu Garden is a meticulously designed Ming-dynasty classical garden in Shanghai's Old City, laid out in the 1500s with rockeries, koi ponds, pavilions and dragon-topped walls. The surrounding Yuyuan Bazaar buzzes with snack stalls and souvenir shops. It's beautiful but often overwhelmingly crowded, so arrive at opening or on a weekday to actually enjoy the scenery; note it typically closes Mondays.
