Pier 39 is a festive two-level marketplace pier at Fisherman's Wharf best known for the raft of wild California sea lions that haul out on the floating docks off K-Dock, free to watch year-round. There is a double-decker carousel, an aquarium, shops, and sweeping views toward Alcatraz and the bridges. It is heavily commercialized and the shops and eateries are tourist-priced, so come mainly for the sea lions and the waterfront setting.
