San Francisco's Chinatown is the oldest and one of the largest Chinatowns in North America, a dense, atmospheric grid entered through the Dragon Gate at Grant Avenue. Wander for dim sum and roast-duck shops, herbal pharmacies, temple-topped Waverly Place and the tiny Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory. Grant Avenue is the touristy souvenir strip, so duck onto Stockton Street and the side alleys to see where residents actually shop and eat.
