The National Gallery's flagship modern and contemporary art venue occupies a landmark 1920s Functionalist trade fair palace — one of the finest interwar buildings in Europe — and holds the country's most important collection of 19th- to 21st-century Czech and international art, including works by Klimt, Schiele, Picasso, and Monet alongside Czech masters. The sheer scale of the building and collection rewards a half-day visit. It's less visited than it deserves to be, partly because it's a tram ride from the centre. The café is functional rather than special.
