This former hunting lodge turned museum holds the world's largest collection of Monet paintings, including Impression, Sunrise — the painting that gave Impressionism its name. The underground gallery built to house the Monet bequest is intimate and beautifully lit, and the collection of late Water Lilies and Giverny works is unmatched anywhere. It's slightly out of the way in the residential 16th, which keeps crowds lower than the Orangerie. Worth the Metro ride for any serious Monet admirer.
