A jaw-dropping 1908 chateau-style mansion built by a Swedish immigrant newspaper magnate anchors this museum celebrating Nordic culture, design, and immigration history. The mansion's ornate tiled stoves, carved woodwork, and period rooms are extraordinary, and the modern Nelson Cultural Center addition hosts excellent rotating design and art exhibitions. The café (Fika) serves legitimately good Scandinavian food and is worth a visit on its own.
