Is Segovia doable as a half day?

You can see the big three in four hours, but you'd skip lunch — which in Segovia is half the point. Take a morning train, do a long cochinillo lunch, then the Alcázar in softer afternoon light, and head back early evening.

Is anything worth seeing beyond the old town?

Walk down to the Vera Cruz church viewpoint or the Mirador del Valle for the classic postcard shot of the Alcázar on its rock prow. The royal palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, 15 minutes away by bus, makes a great add-on if you have wheels or time.

How much does the Alcázar of Segovia cost?

General admission including the palace, museum and Juan II tower runs €10, or €7 without the tower climb. Hours are 10:00-20:00 April through October and 10:00-18:00 November through March. The tower's 152 steps buy you the best view in town.

Do I need to book the Alcázar in advance?

On summer weekends and holidays, yes — buy timed tickets on the official site (entradas.alcazardesegovia.com) to skip the line. On an ordinary weekday you can usually buy at the door with a short wait.

Three things: the Roman aqueduct (free, always open, still staggering), the Alcázar castle at the far end of the old town, and the late-Gothic cathedral on Plaza Mayor. Walk the aqueduct-to-Alcázar spine slowly — the old town itself is the attraction.
