Plaza de España is a large central square at the top of Gran Via, anchored by the stone monument to Cervantes overlooking bronze figures of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. A major 2021 redesign buried the traffic and added lawns, trees and play areas, making it a pleasant green break. It links easily to the Royal Palace and the Temple of Debod, so it works well as part of a walk.
