Sri Mahamariamman Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur, founded in 1873 and tucked at the edge of Chinatown near Petaling Street. Its ornate five-tiered gopuram tower is crowded with brightly painted deities, and inside you'll find intricate carvings and the silver chariot used in the Thaipusam procession to Batu Caves. Dress modestly and remove your shoes before entering, as it's an active place of worship rather than just a photo stop.
