A working helipad on the 34th floor turned open-air sunset bar with a genuine 360-degree view of KL. The view is the whole point and it delivers. Caveat: there's a cover charge with minimum spend, drinks are pricey, and it gets packed right before sunset.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are normal but weekend sunsets fill fast, so booking a spot is smart if you want a good rail view. If you just want a drink at the bar, you can usually turn up. Groups should definitely call ahead.
What time should I go for the sunset?
Get there 30-45 minutes before sundown so you can grab a rail spot before the crowd. Sunset in KL is roughly 7-7:30pm year-round. The helipad only opens after 6pm because it's an active landing pad by day.
Is there a dress code?
Smart casual. No flip-flops, singlets, or sports shorts, and they can turn you away at the lift. Closed shoes and a collared shirt are a safe bet for guys.
What are the opening hours?
Sunday to Wednesday 6pm-midnight, Thursday until 2am, Friday and Saturday until 3am. Closed Sundays in some listings, so double-check. The rooftop helipad level opens once the last chopper is done for the day.
Is it safe up on the helipad with no railings?
There's a low perimeter and staff keep an eye on things, but yes, it's an actual exposed helipad with minimal barriers. Not the spot if you're shaky with heights or bringing small kids. Watch your footing after a couple of drinks.
Can I get dinner there or just drinks?
It's really a drinks-and-view bar with light bites, not a dinner destination. Eat beforehand on nearby Jalan Alor or Changkat and come here for the sunset cocktail. Food quality is secondary to the panorama.
How do I actually find the entrance?
It's in Menara KH on Jalan Sultan Ismail. Take the lift to the 34th floor lounge, then staff walk you up to the open helipad. First-timers always get confused in the lobby, so just tell security you're going to Heli.
Is there a cover charge at Heli Lounge Bar?
Yes, there's a cover/minimum spend that typically includes a drink, and it goes up around sunset and on weekends. Check the exact amount when you arrive since it changes. It's cash or card, but confirm on the night.
