Housed inside Battery Randolph, a massive 1911 coastal artillery fortification right on the edge of Waikiki, this museum covers Hawaii's deep military history from the ancient Hawaiian warrior tradition through the Gulf War. The building itself is extraordinary — the concrete walls are so thick the Army couldn't demolish it — and the exhibits inside are dense with artifacts, weapons, uniforms, and personal stories. It is surprisingly absorbing and far less crowded than you'd expect given its prime Waikiki location. Donations are encouraged and the volunteer docents add real depth.
