The vast lagoon running behind the Hotel Zone strip is a protected mangrove ecosystem where kayaking and paddleboarding tours reveal crocodiles, herons, and a hidden natural world invisible from the beach. Several operators launch from the lagoon side of the Hotel Zone and offer 2–3 hour guided eco-tours. Caveat: go with a licensed eco-tour operator rather than renting solo — the mangrove channels are easy to get lost in and unguided access can damage the ecosystem.
