One of the world's great archaeology museums, housing the monumental Pergamon Altar, the Ishtar Gate of Babylon, and the Market Gate of Miletus. The Pergamon Altar hall is currently closed for renovation until around 2027, so check what's on display before visiting. Book timed tickets online well in advance — walk-up queues can be brutal. Despite the partial closure, what remains on view is genuinely staggering in scale and ambition.
