The Hackesche Höfe is Berlin's most beautiful Art Nouveau courtyard complex — eight interconnected courtyards built in 1906, now filled with independent boutiques, galleries, cafés, and a cinema. The surrounding Hackescher Markt area is one of the city's most vibrant street-level neighborhoods, with the S-Bahn viaduct arches housing bars and shops. It is touristy but genuinely beloved by locals who use it regularly. Come in the evening when the courtyards are lit and the crowds thin slightly.
